Essay 3 (Your favorite animal)

My favorit animal is a cat, because they are very cool and cute.
There are many black cats in the world. They often was killed as witch hunt in the old day, because many people believed a black cat was a symbol of evil omens. Now, the superstition still subsists in the some area. Especially this is conspicuous in Italy. In Italy, 6oooo black cats were killed by the believer of the superstition in year. So Italian a humane society did enlightenment event, signature action and gave out leaflets in 2007. On the other hand, a black cat was a symbol of luck in some area of United Kingdom. In Japan, a black cat was called "Hukuneko" and they was a symbol of charm and luck because they can see in dark.
There are some cats which have eyes of each different colors. This disease name is "heterochromia iridis." Especially, a white cat is found this symptom. This eyes often are called "The diamond eyes." in Thailand. This symptom rarely appears on human eyes. In Japan, they was a symbol of luck too.
I think a cat is profound and mysterious. They are willowy and quick. I want to be like a cat!! (203words)

The Poeni War

Roman called the people of Carthago "Poeni." The Poeni war was the war between Rome and Carthago through three times.
The first war was in B.C.264 to B.C.241. This battlefield was Sicilia. Rome won the battle and got Sicilia. Sicilia was the leading producer of wheat in the Mediterranean.
The second war was in B.C.218 to B.C. 201. Hannibal was great commander in Carthago. His army attacked Rome across Alps. Roma was suprised it and series of battles and successive losses. But Roman great commander　Scipio's army finished Hannibal's army in Zama battle. Zama was in north Africa. Thereafter, Hannibal went into exile and killed himself.
The last war was in B.C.149 to B.C. 146. In this war, Rome destroyed Carthago and Carthago became the territory of Rome. (128words)

Birth of Roman Empire

Rome is the capital city of Italy. Rome has a glorious past for more than 2000 years. Now, Rome retains the atmosphere. Roman Empire had flourished for 400 years. Roman Empire was first huge city in the history. Roman Empire was political power, economy power and many folk powers. This city have various race, language and religion, but this city could pull together them. The reason is integration. Roman Empire aimed cultural assimilation with Roman culture and another. And this city aimed folk integration and assured camfortable city. This effort catches people heart. This city laid the foundation of huge nation and carried prosperity, because this city did not strong armament but adaptable peace policy. (115words)

The Vatican city is the smallest country in the world. The area is 0.44 km2. It is enclave of Italy because it is surrounded by the city of Rome. Vatican is the center of Catholicism and has the Roman Catholic Church. The chief of state is The Holy Father. The official language is Latin. In general, the business language is Italian and the diplomacy language is French.　The Vatican city has close relation Rome and it is very important city in Roman past. (83words)
